I continue to be amazed at how difficult it is to find the name or contact details of the library director on many library websites. And in some cases to find the names of other relevant library contacts. This is especially the case given the emphasis on the human touch the library provides, and the expertise of library staff.
I was interested to see that the central focus of the Kelvin Smith Library website at Case was on collections, services and people.
Incidentally, I was also interested to see pictures and contact details of library staff placed around the irving K Barber Learning Centre on my recent trip there. Here is a fuzzy picture.

So-called soft skills are hard
So-called soft skills are important across a range of library activities. Existing trends will further amplify this importance. Describing these skills as soft may be misleading, or even damaging. They should be recognized as learnable and teachable, and should be explicitly supported and rewarded.
