I was interested to see this picture in a recent presentation on the Semantic Web by Tim Berners-Lee. It is a nice way of showing recent developments and anticipated movement.
Of course, not everybody would see the wave moving in the way shown here, but that is another discussion.
The presentation is a general overview which will be familiar to those who follow the semantic web.
