Future of public libraries

The Laser Foundation (in the UK) has been commissioning reports about the public library system. The latest takes a new direction. They worked with a group of ‘young’ (undefined?) middle managers in public libraries to develop a report on the public library of 2015.

There are urgent questions to be asked about the governance and funding of public libraries at a national and local level’ [futures group]

So-called soft skills are hard

The technology career ladder

Library leaders should be drawn from across the organization. Any idea that technology leaders are overly specialised or too distant from general library work is outmoded and counter-productive.
