I noted with interest the announcement about Coins in COPAC, the CURL union catalogue in the UK.
The Copac v3 Experimental Interface now has COinS in the full record display. The COinS is an HTML element that contains an OpenURL and is structured in such as way that it is not normally visible. To make the COinS useful (and visible) you need to install an extension into your web browser. [Copac News]
This is great news. Two things occur: how quickly will this approach spread to other large bibliographic resources, and what sort of impact will it have on users?
OCLC will be introducing Coins in OpenWorldCat pages in March.
