The library in the airport

Lorcan 1 min read

I spoke at the congenial WilsWorld conference yesterday. On my way in, I did not notice a very distinctive feature. When I remarked on the fineness of the airport I was told about:

On Wings of Art, the inaugural exhibition in the Art Court at the newly renovated Dane County Regional Airport, features works from the Department of Special Collections and art purchased by the Friends of the UW–Madison Library. The exhibition consists of seven individual shows that highlight many aspects of aviation, mapping and flight through historical photographs, maps, globes, sculptures, films, posters, rare books and contemporary prints. In “Birds in Books,” Special Collections curator Robin Rider and intern Ann Myers present historically important ornithology titles by Alexander Wilson, John James Audubon and more. Unfortunately, I did not have time to look at it closely on the way out: I was rushing to catch an earlier flight trying to avoid weather delays. No good: I ended up stranded in the pandemonium that was O’Hare for an extra night.
