Google print

Lorcan

Barbara Quint discusses the recent Google Print initiative in Information Today. She notes teething troubles with the exposure of OCLC records in Google and wondes about a ‘library tab’ within Google.

One alternative would be to put such records into a sub-domain, adding another tab to the spare Google home page. One called Library comes to mind. When I asked Chip Nilges, director of OCLC WorldCat Services Cooperative Discovery Services, if OCLC had ever discussed such options with Google, he sighed and said, No, we havent discussed that yet, but its a conversation wed be glad to have. [Google Beta Tests Book Search Service]

I was pleased to inaugurate the RLUK Digital Shift Forum, with a presentation on Pandemic effects and collection directions. I was especially pleased to be kindly introduced by my longstanding colleague Robin Green, University Librarian at Warwick University, and current chair of RLUK.
