# TEL, SRU and CLD

The TEL project reports one of its main outcomes to be a “flexible systems [architecture](https://www.europeanlibrary.org/pdf/report%5Ftel%5Fportal%5Fdevelopment.pdf?ref=lorcandempsey.net) based on the SRU protocol”.  
They have also produced an interim [report](https://www.europeanlibrary.org/pdf/wp3%5Freport%5Fsept03.pdf?ref=lorcandempsey.net) on metadata issues. One of the interesting things about TEL is their support for the idea of collection level description (CLD) as a form of ‘forward knowledge’ of library collections to support selection for further inspection.
