It is just nice to use. I especially like the useful [search by color](https://www.etsy.com/color.php?ref=lorcandempsey.net) 😉  
They have an [alchemy section](https://www.etsy.com/alchemy/?ref=lorcandempsey.net):

They have a range of interesting looking [community](https://www.etsy.com/community.php?ref=lorcandempsey.net) sections, including [virtual labs](https://www.etsy.com/virtual%5Flabs.php?ref=lorcandempsey.net) (billed as “live workshops and online classes”), but I have not tried them out so don’t have a sense of how active they are. They look nice though!  
I was interested to see that Etsy had made the WebWare [top 100 Web apps](https://www.webware.com/html/ww/100/2008/winners.html?ref=lorcandempsey.net) for 2008 list.
