The Open Content Alliance has been [meeting](https://ldp.library.jhu.edu/bookworkshop/?ref=lorcandempsey.net). Some of the discussion has been blogged [here](https://ono.cdlib.org/archives/shimenawa/000195.html?ref=lorcandempsey.net) and in an earlier [entry](https://ono.cdlib.org/archives/shimenawa/000194.html?ref=lorcandempsey.net).
I am also grateful to Peter for a link to the following [Book presentation](https://www.openlibrary.org/details/openlibrary?ref=lorcandempsey.net) of background.
This is available on the [open library](https://www.openlibrary.org/?ref=lorcandempsey.net) website.

> Last week, the Internet Archive launched [Open Library](https://dw.com.com/redir?destUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.openlibrary.org%2F&siteId=3&oId=2100-1025-5915690&ontId=1023&lop=nl.ex&ref=lorcandempsey.net), a Web site that will eventually house all the world’s books, according to the nonprofit. It now demonstrates the project with 15 digitized works. The Web site’s interface is modeled after that of the British Library in the United Kingdom. \[[An open-source rival to Google’s book project | CNET News.com](https://news.com.com/An+open-source+rival+to+Googles+book+project/2100-1025%5F3-5915690.html?part=rss&tag=5915690&subj=news&ref=lorcandempsey.net)\]
