I spoke at the JISC conference in Birmingham last week. It was at a [session](https://www.jisc.ac.uk/home/events/2008/04/jiscconference08/e%5Flib.aspx?ref=lorcandempsey.net) related to the JISC’s [Libraries of the Future](https://www.jisc.ac.uk/librariesofthefuture?ref=lorcandempsey.net) initiative. A special [supplement](https://education.guardian.co.uk/librariesunleashed/0,,2274706,00.html?ref=lorcandempsey.net) on academic libraries is appearing in the Guardian Newspaper to accompany the initiative. A range of topics is covered; the treatment is high level and journalistic, as you would expect. This is a nice achievement by JISC, as it puts a range of positive stories about libraries in front of the University community (where, in a note to non-UK readers, the Guardian has high penetration). Via eFoundations:

> [Material from the supplement](https://education.guardian.co.uk/librariesunleashed/0,,2274706,00.html?ref=lorcandempsey.net), covering information literacy, physical learning spaces, Library 2.0, business models, digitisation, users and librarians is already available on the Guardian Web site. \[[eFoundations: Libraries of the future](https://efoundations.typepad.com/efoundations/2008/04/libraries-of-th.html?ref=lorcandempsey.net)\]
