# Libraries and Learning

Bob Martin has been emphasizing the role of libraries and museums in support of learning. I now notice that the [Institute of Museum and Library Services](https://www.imls.gov/index.htm?ref=lorcandempsey.net "Institute of Museum and Library Services") tagline includes the phrase “dedicated to creating and sustaining a nation of learners”. That the end of libraries is learning has been a constant refrain of Bob Martin’s.  
Now a UK organization, [Museums, Libraries and Archives Council](https://www.mla.gov.uk/?ref=lorcandempsey.net), has made the same point a major plank of its activities, and has created a special framework, [Inspiring learning for all](https://www.inspiringlearningforall.gov.uk/?ref=lorcandempsey.net) to support this message.  
Of course, underlying each is the fact that ‘learning’ attracts stronger political support than either ‘culture’ or ‘access to information’.
