CETIS notes an interesting development from Sentient Learning.

> The solution consists of a central repository (LearnBase) and a content creation tool (LearnBuild). Claimed to be able to create IMS Content Packages, LearnBuild allows users to do most content creation and publishing operations from within Microsoft Word. \[[CETIS-Sentient launch repository with Word interface](https://www.cetis.ac.uk/content2/20050112022653?ref=lorcandempsey.net)\]

There are no technical details on the Sentient website:

> The philosophy behind **Sentient LearnBuild** is one of technological inclusion. It is thought that the familiar **Microsoft Word** functionality will allow ***all*** academics, regardless of technical background, a way to participate more fully in the e-learning revolution bringing a more creative and dynamic dimension to teaching practice. \[[Sentient Learning](https://www.sentientlearning.com/home/Solutions/Sentient+LearnBase.htm?ref=lorcandempsey.net)\]

Whatever the detail, it is interesting as another example of the view that there are advantages in trying to fit in with exising patterns of behavior.
