I thought it would be nice to record that a couple of my colleagues had recently been elected to positions of note …  
[Jackie Dooley](https://www.oclc.org/research/people/dooley.htm?ref=lorcandempsey.net), Program Officer, has been elected Vice-President/President Elect for 2011/12 of the American Society of Archivists. This is really a wonderful tribute to Jackie’s contribution over many years. Most recently, Jackie has published results of a major survey of special collections and archives, *Taking Our Pulse: The OCLC Research Survey of Special Collections and Archives* \[[pdf](https://www.oclc.org/research/publications/library/2010/2010-11.pdf?ref=lorcandempsey.net)\].  
[Lynn Silipigni Connaway](https://www.oclc.org/research/people/connaway.htm?ref=lorcandempsey.net), Senior Research Scientist, has been elected ALA Library Research Round Table Vice-chair/Chair-elect. Her term begins after ALA Annual. Lynn is the co-author of [Basic research methods for librarians](https://www.worldcat.org/oclc/548555591?ref=lorcandempsey.net) and leads our [user behavior studies](https://www.oclc.org/research/activities/ubs.htm?ref=lorcandempsey.net).
