Writing about [intrastructure](https://blog.oclc.org/lorcand/archives/000505.html?ref=lorcandempsey.net) below, I suggested that a large gap in our current environment was for integrating desktop frameworks. Bill Olivier has an overview presentation \[[ppt](https://www.jisc.ac.uk/uploaded%5Fdocuments/Component%20Frameworks.ppt?ref=lorcandempsey.net)\] about component-based development in e-learning where he talks about this need. He identifies the following starting points: NetBeans/eclipse/[JSR 198](https://web1.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=198&ref=lorcandempsey.net), Mozilla, [Chandler](https://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Chandler/WebHome?ref=lorcandempsey.net), and [Lionshare](https://lionshare.its.psu.edu/main/index%5Fhtml?ref=lorcandempsey.net).
